Take A Leak

Everyone in government from the White House to town hall uses leaks to advance their agenda and thank God they do. We wouldn’t learn anything deeply informative without them. The contentious issue is about the unauthorized leaks that powerful leaders can’t control. The president, ANY president, uses authorized leaks as a tool or a weapon. They do it to advance their agenda, as I said, but they also do it to seduce journalists into thinking they have a friend in high places. One of the reasons journalists are so cynical is because they eventually realize they’re not only being lied to, but they’re being used and played like a violin by the powerful people they cover and there’s not a lot they can do about it except go along if they want the story. The old journalist’s maxim (If your mother says she loves you, check it out with two independent sources) comes into play every minute of every day. Usually just before deadline.
